Vivisection is a kinetic, responsive, sculpture that manifests emergent behavior as a consequence of sensed changes in the immediate environment. Vivisection’s behavior is characterized by swiveling ultrasonic range detectors, oscillating tentacles, bright white lights and sonic chaotic resonances.
Vivisection is an exercise in artificial life form generation. Embedded system code establishes a sensory network and associated activation functionality. However, Vivisection does not behave in a precise, pre-determined fashion. Changes inherent in the sensed environment introduce non-linearities in response behavior. Furthermore, activating elements within Vivisection have randomizing seeds to generate novel methods for interaction.
